GREETING from The Rev. Rose Ann Vita Part-time Minister of Worship and Pastoral Care at First United Church, Waterloo This week I have had the pleasure of meeting a few of you by Zoom or by phone, and over the next month or so I will continue to try to say "hello" to each family unit. Once we are out of lockdown, you will find me at the church on Tuesdays. Eventually, I will offer virtual book and bible studies and other opportunities for small group gatherings at other times of the week. Please know that your pastoral concerns are welcome anytime; just call. If I don't answer my phone (647 763 0101), leave a message and I will return your call. (Here is my email rose.ann.vita2@gmail.com) THIS SUNDAY: One theme of this Sunday's worship service comes from the opening verses of the Bible. You might want to look at this VIDEO as a way to prepare your minds and hearts. I look forward to being with you. God's peace, Rose Ann Here is the link to the video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afVN-7vY0KA&feature=emb_logo&ab_channel=BibleProject)

Update on Boiler and Heating System at the Church The new boiler is now onsite sitting, boxed in the cloakroom according to Jay. Temporary Heat will arrive in the form of a indirect fired diesel heating unit (350,000 BTUH -400,000BTUH) placed outside the main hall and will pump warm air in through a window opening modified to suit ducting and be set up on Friday January 8th. They will secure it using steel fence to the best of their ability. Additional fans inside will be used to move air throughout the building. The old boiler will be shut down Monday morning January 11th and boiler demolition and abatement will begin. The installation will continue for the next two weeks from that date so completion will be around January 22nd. If everything goes well, we will have a fully functioning heating system by the beginning of February! Rick

How many did you find? I hope you enjoyed the "5:00 PM" Christmas Eve Service! As I mentioned there were many "hidden" animals throughout the service. Here is the list: Badger, bear, bull, camel, chicken, cow, deer, duck, frog, eagle, goat, gull, horse, koala, lamb, meerkats, mice, monkey, owl, panda, parrott, peacock, pelican, penguin, pig, seal, sheep, turtle, zebra. There were also horses behind Harry, the fish on the cup and the stained glass birds in behind (thanks John and Joanne) and, of course, Callie the cat (Lynne's storytelling assistant). Did I miss any? If you want to check, click the link here to see the service. Here are a couple of "outtakes" that had some more (and different) animals. |
