Taking care during the summerNon Monetary Donations Needed While much of our lives at First United slow down come summer, the needs of our community do not. There are a number of ways you can help us support others over this slower season. We can use donations of non perishable foods for our food cupboard. We are in need of sanitary napkins and incontinence supplies for our period supplies. Our fence ministry would appreciate new and gently used socks, T-shirts, baseball/sun hats and new men's underwear. Thank you so much for your continued support of all our ministries. |
The Mod’s Book Squad
Join Right Rev. Dr. Carmen Lansdowne, Moderator and her guest for monthly book studies.
June's discussion is June 27, 2024 and her feature guest is the author of the book being discussed, The Other Side of the River: From Church Pew to Sweat Lodge.
Alf Dumont walks between the two worlds of Indigenous and settler, traditional spirituality and Christianity. He shares stories of building bridges between these worlds. Dumont challenges the church to re-examine the theology behind its past decision around residential schools, so that it might live out the words of its apologies. He challenges the country to re-examine its responsibilities and relationships with Indigenous people.
