A free children’s music series, Kids’ Concerts at First, is set to kick off this fall in Hilliard Hall with 45 minute concerts on October 20 and November 17 followed by three more in early 2025. This should be “music to the ears” of area families who are looking for engaging experiences to share!

First has been fortunate to receive funding for this from The United Church of Canada Foundation and the Central Ontario Musicians’ Association. A number of musicians from the former KW Symphony will be performing in the series.

The series opens on Sunday, October 20, 2 pm, with Boots Finds Her Story, a story about a young girl named Fiadh and her quest to save her father. Allene Chomyn (violin), Ian Whitman (double bass) and Marjorie Hopkins (narrator/dancer) are the featured performers.

On Sunday, November 17, 2 pm, Rosanne Warren (flute), Daniel Warren (trumpet) and Heidi Gallas (piano) present Master Owen and His Magical Flute. Owen’s wishes to become a knight’s squire in the kingdom of Campbelllot. With a little help from his magician, flute-playing uncle, he might just make it!

After the concert, audience members are invited to ask the performers questions about their careers and their instruments.

Plans are in place for more concerts in 2025 so save February 2, March 2 and April 6 on your calendar now! Registration links will be available closer to the concerts.
